Hi everyone!

My name is Luna, and I am studying Health Information Science (HINF). I am currently in my third year. My academic journey has been interesting but stressful at times. I have learned a lot in the HINF program, I think the most interesting topics that I have learned about include learning about community support work and health information systems.

I have also had the opportunity to do a co-op as part of my program, which gave me real-world experience in health information management. What I really liked about my co-op was that it was a very hands-on environment, and I was able to see how the things we learn in class, like data management and system implementation, actually play out in a healthcare setting. This experience has definitely helped me understand the impact that well-designed health systems can have on patient care and the day-to-day operations of a hospital. These experiences have strengthened my interest in using technology to improve healthcare.

In my free time, I enjoy swimming, reading, trying to cook new meals, as well as travelling and painting. I would like to get into pottery this summer, hopefully. Really excited to be in this class and looking forward to getting to know everyone! Can’t wait to see what we’ll learn in EDCI 335.
